Black Friday turned into a kind of Green Friday at The Arboretum in Arcadia on Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving.

That’s right, amid the societal noise of blockbuster deals on T.V.s and the latest tech, The Arboretum zigged while shoppers zagged on Friday, kicking off a post-Thanksgiving series of walking tours designed to showcase the many trees at the 127-acre botanical garden and historical site.

In a 1-mile tour, visitors got a first-hand look a the array of trees, which at the Arboretum come into color from now until December.

In their walk, they learned about trees such as the honey locust, red maple, Japanese horse-chestnut, red oak, crape myrtle and many others.

The tours, which are free with admission to The Arboretum, will continue at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30.
