The independent politician who has become a guiding star for many on the liberal left in the US has said that this year’s election is in many ways the most important of our lifetime.
With Tuesday’s election victory, he can embark on his fourth six-year term. At the turn of the year, he has been in the Senate for 18 years. Before that, he spent 16 years in the House of Representatives.
Outside the United States, many people became seriously aware of Sanders when he tried to become the Democrats’ presidential candidate in 2016 and 2020.
After President Joe Biden withdrew from this year’s election campaign, Sanders threw his support behind Kamala Harris.
