The Rieslings from Immich-Batterieberg are considered some of the most distinctive in Germany. The winery is located in the village of Enkirch in the lower part of the Mosel, a few kilometers north of Traben-Trabach, and is one of the oldest properties in the area. The Immich family has been particularly decisive in the development of the winery, which they have owned from 1425 to 1989.
Since 2009, the current owner and winemaker Gernot Kollmann has been responsible for the operation of the property, and from the 2022 vintage the wines are organically certified. The property itself consists of four extremely steep vineyards with mainly ungrafted vines, and the result is crisp and mineral Rieslings with a low alcohol percentage and an absolutely insane acidity.
I have tested the wines Detonation and Escheburg, where the latter has somewhat more concentration than Detonation – which again has better acidity. Both are awesome.
Among the wines of the week is also Guigal’s Crozes-Hermitage, which is included in the basic selection in the 2021 vintage, and is a dark and fruity sour wine perfect for dark evenings, game, steak and winter food.
From 2023, Meinklang Burgenland Red has come in a so-called pouch, with a very successful result. This must then be Poland’s best bottled variant?

WINE
3072601 La Vieille Ferme 2023 (Ventoux, Rhône, France) NOK 152.90 (85 points) (BA)
This week’s recommendation is currently equipped with a fairly discreet “Christmas label”, and it fits well considering the time of year. Has a fairly strong red-purple color and smells of dark berries together with herbs and spices. Has quite good concentration and flavors of sour and dark berries together with herbs and spices before finishing with some tannin and good acidity. Should be in the vast majority of the country’s pole sales.
