A judge ruled this week that Lancaster County prosecutors can move forward with their case against a man they say sexually abused a girl for years.
Timothy Barker, 48, of Leola, was between 40 and 44 when he started abusing a 9-year-old girl in his care in West Lampeter Township, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors said the abuse continued until the girl was 13.
The girl, now 17, said Barker told her he wanted to “teach her how to use her body correctly” before she was older, prosecutors said.
Barker is charged with rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault of a person less than 13, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of children.
A formal arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 13.
