A K9 who worked with the Newberry Township Police Department died Tuesday evening, according to multiple reports.
The 5-year-old dog, Zar, was a Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd mix, Ted Czech, the York County Office of Emergency Management’s spokesperson, told abc27.
Police say Zar did not die while on duty and he was taken to the Newberry Animal Emergency Center, according to abc27.
Officers and colleagues greeted Zar at the animal hospital and lined the entrance in his honor, according to CBS21.
It is not clear what caused Zar’s death, but more details are expected to be released in the coming days.
