The final words of Gol D. Roger changed the world forever. Almost everyone in attendance during his execution was so moved by the speech that they only desired to claim the One Piece and become the next Pirate King.

However, there were a few exceptions. Some One Piece characters did not care about the treasure and becoming the King of the Pirates. They have other goals, and they have devoted their entire lives to them. In rare cases, they do not even care about accumulating wealth or power. With that in mind, here are some One Piece characters with no desire of becoming the Pirate King.

7 Whitebeard

The Strongest Man In The World

Edward Newgate, better known as Whitebeard, led the Whitebeard Pirates. Under his leadership, the crew became feared throughout the world, and no one wanted to get on their bad side. Whitebeard was a juggernaut who was impossible to stop.

He had access to all three types of Haki, and he could use them at a very high level. Additionally, Whitebeard had the power of the Gura Gura no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. It enabled him to create tremors so strong that the mightiest Naval vessels cowered in fear. For all his strength, Whitebeard has zero interest in becoming the Pirate King. He only wanted to have a caring family, which is why he never pursued the One Piece.

6 Portgas D. Ace

One Of The Most Talented Fighters

Portgas D. Ace was the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. He joined the crew with the aim of making the Pirate King. So, he worked tirelessly to help Whitebeard become the next King of the Pirates.

Considering Ace was the son of Gol D. Roger, one would assume that he would want to accomplish the same thing as his father. Ace certainly had the potential to become the Pirate King. He had the Mera Mera no Mi, which gave him full control over fire. Ace also had three types of Haki, but he didn’t have enough mastery over them. However, this could have easily been fixed with time.

5 Shiki

A Legend From Roger’s Era

Shiki is the captain of the Golden Lion Pirates. Before becoming the captain of his own crew, Shiki was part of the Rocks Pirates, and he traveled with them until the God Valley Incident. Following their defeat, Shiki started his separate journey.

Shiki was an extremely powerful individual who nearly destroyed Marineford on his own. He gravely injured Monkey D. Garp and broke out of Impel Down after being imprisoned. Despite his strength, Shiki showed no interest in claiming the One Piece. He only desired to conquer the world, something that he had in common with his late captain, Rocks D. Xebec.

4 Crocodile

A Cunning Man With A Deadly Devil Fruit

Crocodile is the co-founder of the Cross Guild. He is an intelligent person who is able to formulate plans in next to no time. In the past, Crocodile created the Baroque Works to overthrow Nefertari Cobra and find the location of an Ancient Weapon. He would have been successful, but Luffy thwarted him before it could materialize.

Crocodile possesses the Suna Suna no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that grants him complete control over sand. As an experienced fighter, Crocodile likely has access to Haki as well. Even with so much power, Crocodile has shown no interest in claiming the One Piece.

3 Dracule Mihawk

The Best Swordsman In One Piece

Dracule Mihawk was the first Shichibukai to be introduced in the series. He debuted in the East Blue Saga when the Straw Hats were at Baratie. It did not take long for him to show off his strength to the bystanders.

Mihawk is known as the strongest swordsman in the world, so there is no one who can match his skill with swords. He possesses Yoru, a Saijo O-Wazamono grade sword that has been blackened likely due to his Haki. Mihawk is able to slice a galleon with a single strike of his sword. In the past, he was involved in a fierce rivalry with Shanks. But he lost interest after Shanks lost an arm. Given his strength, Mihawk could have been a genuine contender for the title of the Pirate King, but he only has eyes for fighting strong opponents.

2 Boa Hancock

Boa Hancock is the leader of the Kuja Pirates and the Queen of Amazon Lily. She is a ridiculously powerful character who possesses strong Haki and a dangerous Devil Fruit. Boa Hancock can use all three types of Haki and that too, without any complications.

Hancock’s Mero Mero no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to petrify anyone who holds feelings of ardor towards her. After being petrified, only Hancock can undo the transformation. So, there is no way for them to escape. Even though Hancock has so much power, she doesn’t seem to care about the One Piece.

Jewelry Bonney is the daughter of Bartholomew Kuma. After spending weeks recovering from her surgery, Bonney decided to set sail and find her father. Within no time, Bonney gained notoriety and became known as one of the most promising pirates in the world.

Bonney possesses the Toshi Toshi no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to manipulate the age of anyone that she touches. Bonney can also tap into alternate futures, which gives her temporary access to different powers. Bonney is a strong individual, but she does not care about treasures and titles.
