On Friday, the San Francisco 49ers shared the news that tight end George Kittle may not play on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams due to a balky hamstring.

Should he miss the game, the Niners will be without running back Christian McCaffrey, receiver Deebo Samuel, and their star tight end.

The Rams have their own injury issues as receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp and tight end Davis Allen are all out for Week 3.

Despite the possibility of Kittle not suiting up, radio and television host Colin Cowherd says the Niners have no excuses not to beat LA.

During his show on Friday, Cowherd shared that quarterback Brock Purdy and San Francisco should be fine because the injuries have moved the team roster from “stacked” to “normal.”

“You should not need an abnormally stacked roster to be excellent,” said Cowherd.

The host further explained that Purdy doesn’t need all his weapons to perform well against the beat-up Rams.

“It’s like the band who releases a really good studio album… I don’t want to see Brock Purdy look like Milli Vanilli this weekend when the record skips and he’s running off stage.”

Cowherd has been slightly dismissive of Purdy’s career in the NFL.

Although the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft was selected for the PFWA All-Rookie Team, and was the NFL’s passer rating leader last season, Cowherd has consistently said that the quarterback has done well because of the 49ers’ plethora of weapons.

He only added to his narrative on Friday.

“I’m not anti-Brock Purdy, but, you know, he does feel a little bit like a trust fund kid,” said Cowherd.
