On Tuesday, the US Congressional Budget Office estimated the federal deficit in the United States at about $1.834 trillion in fiscal year 2024, the highest in the post-Covid-19 era, after debt interest costs jumped sharply and allocations for Social Security, Medicare, and health insurance tax breaks increased.
