  • Valve remains committed to Counter-Strike 2 updates, despite player complaints about the game’s feel.

A talented Counter-Strike 2 modder online has recreated the endless runner mobile title Jetpack Joyride in the game. Most players will usually associate Counter-Strike 2 with slow-paced tactical shooter gameplay, but there are other ways to enjoy the game, too.

Community-made maps are at the heart of the Counter-Strike 2 experience. Competitive play is fun and central to what Counter-Strike is about, but not everyone wants to tryhard during every single match. That’s where community maps come in. Valve has given modders the tools to create custom maps and game modes within Counter-Strike 2, allowing them to show their creativity in really interesting ways. Counter-Strike 2 remains among the highest Steam concurrent player peaks, and it wouldn’t be possible without these kinds of community-made maps.

Twitter user LillyKyu778 shared the clip from their Jetpack Joyride remake within Counter-Strike 2, which can be found on the Steam Workshop. Appropriately named “JETPACK JOYCHICKEN,” it looks far better than it has any right to be. Gamers play as a chicken, shooting a machine gun to propel themselves into the air and avoid upcoming obstacles during the endless runner gameplay. Upon death, the player hilariously turns into a cooked chicken, ending the run to start again. Counter-Strike 2 is already one of the best multiplayer FPS games ever, and it just got better with the release of this mod.

Jetpack Joyride Recreated in Counter-Strike 2

According to LillyKyu778 on the mod’s Steam Workshop page, the speed and difficulty of this map increase over time, so it’s certainly not all plain sailing here. LillyKyu778 is making a big name for herself in the community of late, recently creating a CS Paint mod, as well as a custom recreation of Duck Hunt in Counter-Strike 2 earlier in the year. She has also made some unique versions of the default Counter-Strike 2 maps, such as a snowy Nuke and a rainy Italy. With new Workshop maps coming every few days, her efficiency is incredible, and one user even responded to her Jetpack Joyride announcement with a call for Valve to hire her.

Counter-Strike 2 is set to celebrate its first birthday soon, but many players remain unhappy about the state of the game. A common complaint is that it doesn’t feel as good as its predecessor, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Despite this, Valve continues to release regular content updates for the title. Earlier this year, a leak revealed potential content coming to Counter-Strike 2, and while some of it has come to fruition, other parts, including keychains and a new Operation, are yet to be released. Counter-Strike 2 is still the premier tactical shooter on the market, and hopefully, Valve can give it a little more love in the near future.
