1. Sierra Canyon (4-0)
The Trailblazers continue to prove why they’re the No. 1 team in the area. They beat Orange Lutheran, a Trinity League team, 40-6 on Friday behind a defensive performance that included five sacks and two interceptions. Wyatt Becker threw two touchdowns, Terrell Cooks rushed for two touchdowns and Dane Dunn added a rushing touchdown. Sierra Canyon is paving its way to the Division 1 playoffs.

2. Chaminade (3-2)
A productive second half got the Eagles a win over Loyola on Friday, and they have now moved up to No. 2 in the area rankings. Dual-threat quarterback Seth Shigg was able to salvage plays in a back-and-forth game that ended with a big fourth-down defensive stop with less than a minute remaining in the game. Shigg ran for three touchdowns and threw one touchdown pass to Devin Olmande with one interception.

3. Oaks Christian (2-2)
The Lions dropped a spot in the rankings after they lost to Serra last week. They continue to struggle offensively without quarterback Nate Bennett. Oaks scored on two field goals and a 28-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Devin Tate to senior Chase Farrell. Serra’s defense racked up four sacks against the Lions. Sophomore running back Deshonne Redeux was the leading rusher with 11 touches for 45 yards.

4. Newbury Park (3-1)
Sophomore quarterback Brady Smigiel has now thrown 23 touchdowns in four games after completing 14 of 20 passes for 268 yards and six touchdowns against Royal. Jaden Mack had two touchdown receptions and Beau Smigiel, Landon Bell, Cole Mills and Shane Rosenthal each had one touchdown catch.

5. St. Francis (4-1)
The Golden Knights picked up one more win before heading into their bye week by beating Sultana, 42-13. Junior quarterback John Sanders threw two touchdown passes to Tyler Cofre and John Calmette rushed for three touchdowns.

6. Notre Dame (4-1)
Notre Dame got back into the win column when it beat Westlake, 27-6. Steele Pizella threw one touchdown pass and two interceptions and running back Brandon Bryant added 59 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

7. Valencia (4-1)
The Vikings earned their first shutout of the season by beating Saugus. Senior Jackson Adkins and sophomore Brady Bretthauer both saw time at quarterback and threw two touchdowns apiece. Brian Bonner led the rushing attack with 89 yards and two touchdowns on three carries. Luke Cruz finished the game with six tackles for a loss.

8. Birmingham (3-1)
The Patriots come out of the bye week to face a Texas team in Steele this week. The Patriots have shut out two opponents this season and their only loss has been to the Daily News’ No. 6-ranked team, Notre Dame.

9. Agoura (5-0)
Quarterback Harrison Novak threw for three touchdowns and added two more touchdowns on the ground to help extend the Chargers’ unbeaten streak to 5-0. Agoura went 1-9 overall last season. Sam Haukaas led the defense with 19 total tackles and a tackle for a loss.

10. West Ranch (3-2)
Junior running back Justus Morris rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the Wildcats’ Foothill League-opening win over Canyon. D-lineman Michael Miller finished with two sacks and three tackles.

Calabasas (1-3)
Calabasas had lost two straight games heading into the bye week, including a 54-53 overtime game against Agoura. The Coyotes’ only win this season was over Oak Park (2-3).

Hart (3-1)
Hart comes out of its bye week and heads into Foothill League play with a strong nonleague record under its belt. Shawn Irwin leads the receiving corps with over 100 yards receiving yards in each of Hart’s games. Chris Clauss is a threat on both sides of the ball at running back and linebacker with five rushing touchdowns and 30 tackles with one interception.

Cleveland (4-1)
Kory Hall and Usman Ujayi each hauled in one touchdown pass from quarterback Marcello Aguilar to finish out the nonleague schedule with a win over Westchester. Ajayi added an interception, a tackle for loss and eight total tackles on defense and three Cavs were credited with sacks, Hall, Emmanuel Okelola and Dylan Frank.

Paraclete (5-0)
The Spirits preserved their unbeaten record with a 40-13 win over North Torrance and have held all opponents to 14 points or less this season. Freshman Erik Green, sophomore Adrian Jones and sophomore Dillon Booth had touchdown catches from quarterback Tyler Soles. Seniors Take Brown and Tyler Neal each added a touchdown on the ground.

Village Christian (4-1)
The Crusaders scored at least one touchdown in each quarter to outpace Burroughs in a 32-27 win. Sophomore quarterback Chase Everett completed 25 of 33 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Senior linebacker Matt Keller had two sacks and three tackles for a loss.
