Drone Strike on Sanctioned Russian Explosives Plant Injures Four

A drone attack targeted the Sverdlov Plant in Dzerzhinsk early morning on Sunday, Oct. 20, a major Russian manufacturer of explosives, according to local reports.

The plant is included in the sanctions lists of Ukraine, the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Switzerland and is a key supplier of industrial explosives, mining charges, and specialized equipment for the oil and gas industry.

According to the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, four employees of the plant’s fire department were injured during the UAV attack, which took place overnight.

The injuries were described as minor shrapnel wounds, and all affected individuals have since been treated and released. Air defense and electronic warfare systems were reportedly used to repel the attack, and local authorities are investigating the incident.

Emergency response teams remain on-site to assess the damage and handle any potential risks.
