The Dallas Cowboys made a big statement when the season started.
They went on the road to beat the Cleveland Browns and their elite defense, with Dak Prescott looking like a legitimate MVP candidate.
Then, they couldn’t keep their foot on the gas when they headed back home to face the New Orleans Saints.
It was like the playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers all over again, with the team regressing from that impressive start to the season.
That’s why legendary RB Emmitt Smith isn’t so sure about their playoff chances anymore.
Talking to Kay Adams for her Up & Adams show, the legendary running back claimed that they weren’t a playoff team if they continued to play the way they played vs. the Saints.

He claimed that as much as they had some injuries, they should have a next-man-up mentality and just deal with that.
He believes coach Mike Zimmer will have his work cut out for him to get the defense back to its dominant ways.
The biggest issue with this team is that you never know what version of the Cowboys you’re going to get on a week-to-week basis.
They could look like a Super Bowl-bound squad one week and then a team that’s on pace to get a top-three pick in the NFL Draft, and there’s no way to be considered a serious contender that way.
Now, they’ll have a tough challenge by facing a Baltimore Ravens team that will desperately look to avoid falling to a 0-3 hole, and starting the season 1-2 clearly won’t be ideal for them either.
