Evan Fournier has had a very busy summer.
He helped Team France secure the silver medal at the Paris Olympics and then signed a deal with European team Olympiacos, saying goodbye to the NBA and starting a new chapter in his career.
Speaking with EuroHoops, Fournier was quite honest about how much playing in the Olympics helped him and his mindset, especially because he had just spent months playing with the failing Detroit Pistons.
“Going from [the Pistons] to the Olympics gave me life,” Fournier said, according to Legion Hoops.
That’s a tough thing for Pistons fans to hear but it will have Olympiacos followers excited for next year.

Fournier only played with the Pistons for 29 games last season, averaging 7.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.
It was clear that he probably wouldn’t be there for long, partly because Detroit is trying to rebuild and rely more on the youthful talent on their roster.
It must have been tough for Fournier, a seasoned veteran, to be relegated to a bench position on one of the worst teams in the league.
Thankfully, Team France was excited to welcome him and he did some great work while representing his country.
The fact that the Olympics were held in his home country helped even more and reminded him of his love for the game.
Now he is about to head back overseas after this positive experience.
Fournier is 31 years old, which means he can still play for a number of years.
The last few seasons have been disappointing for him because he lost his spot with the New York Knicks and was then sent to Detroit.
But that’s behind him and he sounds excited for what’s ahead.
