Another resident of Tree Hill, North Carolina is moving to Seattle!
In October 2024, Sophia Bush confirmed that she would be joining the cast of the long-running drama Grey’s Anatomy by posting a video on her Instagram account in scrubs. “I just wasn’t done with my scrubs 💙 @greysabc,” she wrote alongside the video.
Bush will be playing the recurring role of Dr. Cass Beckman in the 21st season of the iconic medical drama.
As she alluded in her Instagram caption, this isn’t Bush’s first time acting in the confines of a hospital. She starred as a heart surgeon in the 2022 CBS show Good Sam. Similarly, Bush also isn’t the first One Tree Hill cast member to have a part on Grey’s Anatomy.

For seasons 1 through 6, Hilarie Burton Morgan played Peyton Sawyer in One Tree Hill. After 130 episodes on the WB-turned-CW drama, Burton moved on to other projects — one of which was Grey’s Anatomy. Burton played Dr. Lauren Boswell in a three episode arc in 2013. Her character, a craniofacial surgeon who came to Grey Sloan Memorial to consult on a case, appears in season 9,. But her tenure there was far from drama-free, has Lauren had a romantic entanglement with Dr. Arizona Robbins.
Over nine seasons as a main character on One Tree Hill, Lenz played Hayley James Scott in 187 episodes. After the show wrapped in 2012, Lenz had roles in Dexter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, and multiple Hallmark films.
In 2018, Lenz had a two-episode role in Grey’s Anatomy, playing the role of Jenny, new fiancée of Dr. Jo Wilson’s abusive ex Paul, in season 14, episodes 9 and 10.
Actress and singer Jana Kramer joined One Tree Hill in season 7, and stayed on through season 9, playing Alex Dupre. But before she joined the iconic cast, Kramer acted in two episodes of Grey’s, playing Lola on season 4, episodes 16 and 17. Kramer’s character accompanied her friend to the hospital after he jumped into a vat of cement in an effort to impress her.
