A fire that broke out at a home still under construction in Los Angeles’ Winnetka neighborhood also damaged the houses on either side of it Monday morning, leaving one of them unsafe to live in.
The blaze erupted around 1:30 a.m. at the unfinished structure on Laramie Avenue near Strathern Street.
Responding crews found the structure well-involved in fire, which had already extended to two neighboring homes, the Los Angeles Fire Department stated.
Video shared with KTLA showed the building where the fire initially started collapsing as it was engulfed in flames.
It took firefighters about 45 minutes to douse the fires in all three homes, but the main home was completely destroyed.
Of the two exposed homes, one sustained damage to the attic and the other on the second floor, according to the fire department.
One of the exposed homes was also red-tagged, leaving the family displaced.
A resident said they lost important documents in the blaze and were left looking for a place to stay.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
