Family members are asking for the community’s help searching for a Maui woman who missed her connecting LAX flight and hasn’t been seen or heard from since Nov. 10.
The last message that Hannah Kobayashi, 31, sent to her family was alarming, they say.
“She mentioned feeling scared, and that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity,” her aunt said.
Kobayashi is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds and has brown hair and eyes, and fair skin with freckles.
Kobayashi’s family said she was traveling from Maui to New York City to visit family, but when she missed her connecting flight in Los Angeles at 11 p.m. on Nov. 8, she decided to go to The Grove for a Lebron James event.
When she returned to LAX days later, her aunt, Larie Pidgeon, said that was when she started sending concerning text messages.
“Strange, cryptic messages – things about the matrix, it was so unlike her,” Pidgeon told KTLA’s Angeli Kakade. “And then all of a sudden, no more communication.”
Pidgeon and other family members have traveled to Los Angeles to post flyers and search for the missing woman, and have started a GoFundMe to ask for help affording hotels and search efforts.
Kobayashi’s family asks that anyone with information on her whereabouts call Pidgeon at 845-750-3006.
