Felon caught with ghost gun, drugs at Yucaipa park: SBSD

A Highland man who is on parole was found at a Yucaipa park with an illegal handgun, ammunition and drugs Wednesday evening, authorities said.

Sam Alexander Peralta, 50, was approached by deputies in the parking lot of Flag Hill Veterans Memorial Park, 35626 Yucaipa Blvd., at about 6:15 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Deputies learned Peralta was on post-release community supervision but also was illegally in possession of a ghost gun — an unserialized weapon that is impossible to track — as well as ammunition and “suspected illicit narcotics,” the release said.

An image shared by authorities shows a handgun and multiple small bags containing a white powder.

He is being held without bail at the West Valley Detention Center.

While his bail was listed at $100,000 for charges of possessing a controlled substance while armed and being a felon in possession of a firearm, the parole hold will not allow him to be bailed out.

He’s due to appear in San Bernardino Superior Court on Monday and has a parole hearing on Thursday.
