Baker Mayfield is making waves as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starting quarterback.

The quarterback’s performance in the first two games of the season has been nothing short of remarkable, with the Bucs securing a 2-0 record under his leadership.

Mayfield’s statistics speak volumes about his early success as he’s tied for the league lead with five touchdown passes, ranks tenth in passing yards with 474, and maintains a stellar QBR of 69.6 while keeping interceptions to a minimum.

These numbers clearly indicate Mayfield’s comfort within the Buccaneers’ offensive system.

ESPN analyst and former wide receiver Andrew Hawkins recently shared his insights on Mayfield’s resurgence during an NFL Live segment.

“(Baker) has been able to take more chances downfield, feeling confident that these receivers will make him right,” Hawkins noted.

Hawkins pinpointed how Mayfield’s success appears to stem from his compatibility with the Buccaneers’ offense, which boasts talented receivers like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan.

Mayfield’s confidence and leadership have undoubtedly contributed to the positive team atmosphere in Tampa Bay.

His ability to connect with skill players and maintain momentum from the previous season has been crucial to the Buccaneers’ early success.

The quarterback’s ambition is evident in his recent comments, where he expressed expectations of the team playing in February – a clear reference to playoff aspirations.

If things keep rolling this way, who knows? Maybe the championship game is on the horizon for the Bucs.
