Argentina was the only G20 member country that did not join the alliance that Brazil has initiated. They are still considering whether to back down, says a source in the Brazilian authorities to AFP.
The global alliance against hunger and poverty has also received support from the EU and AU – both G20 members – as well as financial institutions and voluntary organisations, which means that there are a total of 147 signatures on the initiative.
The goal is ambitious: to fight hunger, which affected 733 million people in the world last year, according to the UN.
