Games To Play If You Like Warframe

If players love Warframe, there’s no shortage of excellent titles they should try out. It’s not as if they’ll run out of things to do in Warframe itself anytime soon, as players can spend hundreds of hours grinding for the perfect character, and the devs at Digital Extremes have been thoroughly committed to adding content and substantial updates. But it’s always nice to have options, even if this title has so many things to do that spending hundreds of hours on this title isn’t unthinkable in the slightest.

Warframe really raised the bar for free-to-play titles with the wealth of content put at the player’s disposal, and the thrilling, action-packed multiplayer action certainly doesn’t hurt matters. Thankfully, there are many games that execute at least one ingredient of Warframe‘s recipe for runaway success incredibly well, so players are bound to find something they’ll enjoy. This is very much welcome for fans who love the looter shooter template of Warframe which is further enhanced by its multiplayer elements.

Those that enjoy the customization and gameplay elements found in Warframe should find a lot to appreciate in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr. That said, it’s not nearly as “action-packed” as Warframe, and some will find the combat elements a bit slower compared to the fast-paced combat in Warframe. That said, there is a lot to appreciate here for Sci-Fi RPG fans in general.

With the server issues slowly being rectified, more and more people can get into Helldivers 2 and see why this game is the perfect title for fans of action-packed third-person shooters. The tactical element of this title is surprisingly in-depth and adds another layer of gameplay to keep players invested in Helldivers 2 for the long haul.

A Hardcore Soulslike Shooter With Co-op Elements

Remnant: From the Ashes is a game that came out of nowhere and blew most people’s minds with how engaging this title really was. The combination of third-person shooter gameplay with Soulslike elements made for a great time, and it’s easy to see why so many people loved what this game had to offer.

Featuring a wealth of challenging boss fights and some amazing co-op gameplay to boot, it’s easy to see why Remnant: From the Ashes was such a breakout hit. To make things even better, the sequel upped the ante to make it even more engaging to play through this amazing title.

Suffice it to say, a lot of games have tried to emulate this four-person shooting gameplay with interesting twists of their own. One such title that has been an immense success is Deep Rock Galactic.

The premise of this title is pretty amazing as is. The idea of space dwarves going to hostile alien worlds in search of valuable materials while thwarting the many alien lifeforms that stand in their way makes for a great time that fans simply can’t get enough of. Any fan of intense, rewarding cooperative shooting action will love what Deep Rock Galactic brings to the table.

The gun variety is one of the strong points of this game as in addition to the standard fare like pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, and snipers, players can also obtain grenade launchers, tesla coils, and even disc launchers that can obliterate an entire level with one shot when fully upgraded.

Players unlock new gadgets by progressing and unlocking certain items. Things like faster movement, beefier guns, and better shields are on the menu. For fans looking to replicate the feeling of a powerful ranged DPS Warframe like Octavia, who can clear the room within seconds, ArcRunner gives off the same feeling, though getting to this point requires some time investment.

The fact that bigger studios are trying to make their own games in this genre is a testament to how massive indie gaming has become, with Returnal being one of the very best games players can check out if they want to enjoy a AAA roguelike title. Selene’s attempts to try and escape the twisted loop she’s caught in make for a riveting time, especially with players slowly uncovering her own story as they make progress in this twisted adventure.

While the pace of updates for this game has been slow, the foundation of Absolver is pretty solid and shows why so many people still have faith in this title. If the developers invest a bit more in the development of this game, then Absolver can become something truly special.

A Futuristic Ninja Action Game Set In The Future

Ghostrunner is an incredibly fast-paced action game with a heavy emphasis on fluid, dynamic movement, just like Warframe. Set in a futuristic sci-fi setting, players are tasked with taking out groups of enemies using their traversal skills like wall jumping, dashing to targets, and grappling.

The great thing about Ghostrunner’s combat is that it’s blisteringly fast, visceral, and unforgiving. By completing heists, more options become available, leading to greater playing value. The number of ways the heists can be completed is one of the biggest selling points for the game. Not to mention the thematic qualities that are aligned with Warframe despite the vastly different backdrops for the games.

Despite the fanbase it’s collected, there’s no doubt the backstory of Warframe being about a race of warriors from the past fighting in the future is bizarre. Due to this, fans will like Saints Row 4 for its similarly ridiculous concept of fighting an alien with superpowers while controlling the president as the playable character.

It doesn’t have the same shooting mechanics as Warframe, but Saints Row 4 can be considered as a palette cleanser of sorts for delivering the massive environment fans went along with its own take in gameplay.

14 Fortnite

A Phenomenon That Started Out As A Battle Royale Game, Now Featuring Many Other Multiplayer Game Modes

Most won’t need an introduction to this game, seeing as it has hundreds of millions of players. Fortnite can be considered as Warframe’s scale taken to over-the-top levels, as the gameplay is essentially a grand battle royale.

It has had distinct versions released, ranging from fighting zombies to creating new worlds and engaging in last-man-standing contests. With so many players participating at the same time, there’s a lot of action to be found here.

13 Anthem

A Multiplayer-Focused Game That Was Maligned At Launch But Is Pretty Fun Right Now, Despite A Small Playerbase

Essentially the same as Warframe, Anthem revolves around characters known as Freelancers who wear exosuits to fight against numerous foes who threaten humanity. Anthem has the basic premise of a game of its genre, complete with online multiplayer.

There are other gameplay techniques like RPG elements and romantic subplots, although the main focus remains on exploring the world and heading into battles with other players.

Let It Die has role-playing elements to go with the hardcore action involved. Let It Die’s combat is closer to something like Dark Souls than Warframe, but its seemingly endless foes set Grasshopper Manufacture’s game apart.

A Fun MMOFPS, With Micropayments Being The Only Annoyance In An Otherwise Solid Game

It can be argued that Warface and Warframe are dissimilar, and it’s only the name that bears a resemblance. However, it’s hard to ignore that they both came out in the same year and have comparable gameplay.

Microtransactions can get in the way of competitive PVP, especially for Warface. While Warframe integrates a smart micropayment business model that supplements its loot rewards system, Warface is not subtle about pay-to-win. Nevertheless, many enjoy Warface for being a great MMOFPS (massively multiplayer online first-person shooter).
