For 14 seasons, Pete Carroll was head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, and he guided them to a Super Bowl championship during the 2013 season.
Even after franchise quarterback Russell Wilson was traded in 2022, Carroll still got them to the playoffs that season with Geno Smith, who had been considered just a decent backup to that point of his NFL career.
This season, Mike Macdonald is the new head coach of the Seahawks, and under his leadership, they have won their first two games.
Smith recently gave Macdonald plenty of praise, especially for his preparation.
“Coach Macdonald has done a great job in having his own style and his own way,” Smith said, via SiriusXM NFL Radio. “He came in and set the tone for us at the very first team meeting.”

Smith was the story of the 2022 season for Seattle, as he threw for 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns while leading the NFL with a 69.8 percent pass completion rate and being named to the Pro Bowl.
That year, he also was named Comeback Player of the Year by The Associated Press and the Pro Football Writers of America.
He also made the Pro Bowl last season, but Seattle fell short of another postseason appearance.
So far this season, Smith has thrown for 499 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.9 percent of his pass attempts.
On the other hand, the Seahawks’ wins have come against weak teams in the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots, and their schedule will start to get tougher in Week 3 when they host the Miami Dolphins.
But Smith and Macdonald have the offense humming and therefore Seattle should remain competitive in the weeks and months to come.
