Genshin Impact Reveals New Characters in Version 5.1 Livestream

Key Takeaways

  • Version 5.1 introduces Xilonen, Citlali, and Ororon for Genshin Impact.
  • A new reward structure offers Primogems for exploration progress in every zone.
  • Players should expect new characters, weapons, world boss, and event banners in Version 5.1.

Genshin Impact has officially unveiled Xilonen, Citlali, and Ororon in the latest Special Program livestream for Version 5.1. Though Xilonen is expected to be the sole addition to the playable cast in Version 5.1, the upcoming patch will also introduce the next two Acts of Natlan’s Archon Quest, with the Masters of the Night Wind playing a prominent role. The Genshin Impact community continues to be excited about Xilonen and her potential to carve out a new niche in the meta as a universal Geo Support.

Though Version 5.1 will not feature a new zone, it will introduce a new reward structure related to open world exploration. For a limited time, Genshin Impact players will be able to collect 100 Primogems for every 20% exploration progress of a newly-released zone, up to a total of 400 Primogems. These rewards will be added to every subsequent map expansion in Genshin Impact, but players will only be able to claim the rewards for a limited time (up to a duration of two patches).

However, the stars of the update are undoubtedly the new characters, as Citlali, Ororon, and Xilonen will feature prominently during the Archon Quest in Version 5.1. Ororon is expected to be a 4-Star Electro Bow character who will make his playable debut in Version 5.2, whereas Citlali is rumored to be a 5-Star Cryo Catalyst, slated for Version 5.3. Xilonen in Genshin Impact needs no introduction, as the 5-Star Geo Sword will headline the first half of the Event Banners alongside Chiori.

The second half of the patch will feature Hu Tao and Nahida on the Event Banners, with the latter also having a central role in Version 5.1’s Flagship Event. The Sabzeruz Festival will be coming back to Genshin Impact, and players will be able to earn a free copy of Candace by participating during the event. While Xilonen, Chiori, Hu Tao, and Nahida in Genshin Impact make for an incredibly stacked set of Event Banners, Version 5.1 will also introduce three new 4-Star weapons to the Weapon Banner.

It should be noted that Version 5.1 will also add a new World Boss to Genshin Impact, the Secret Source Constructor, who will drop Ascension materials for Xilonen. While players should expect fewer Primogems in the upcoming update, Version 5.2 will come with a new map expansion and two new tribes – allowing players to secure extra pulls ahead of Mavuika’s release in Version 5.3. Genshin Impact Version 5.1 comes out on October 9, 2024.
