Marius Borg Høiby’s defender, Øyvind Bratlien, writes in a text message to NTB on Wednesday afternoon that Høiby has been released from custody. He has not answered when Høiby was released.
On 20 November, Høiby was remanded in custody for one week with a letter and visiting ban. The police had asked for two weeks.
On Wednesday morning, the Oslo police wrote in a press release that they would not ask for extended detention for Høiby.
Defendant: The imprisonment was wrong
– The evidence against Høiby is significantly weakened. The risk of evidence destruction does not exist. The imprisonment was wrong, and catastrophic misjudgments were the basis, Bratlien wrote in an SMS to NTB earlier in the day.
In a press release on Wednesday, the Oslo police also stated that an investigation has been launched into a further matter relating to sexual offences. Lawyer Lill Vassbotn is the victim’s assistance lawyer.
– She has not reported this relationship herself, the police have opened a case and have carried out an investigation. She has explained herself to the police and cooperated with them, says Vassbotn The online newspaper.
Bratlien says that the content of the latest rape report is unknown to him and his client.
– The police have created almost all the reports against Høiby, including a new one. This is currently unknown to us. We expect calm and sober assessments from the police going forward. We cannot have a police force that contributes to the circus, says Bratlien to NTB.

– No more risk of evidence tampering
– As of now, we can no longer see that there is a risk of evidence being tampered with. Among other things, Høiby is charged with two counts of rape. The police are said to have found two videos on Høiby’s mobile phone which allegedly show the abuses he is accused of. He pleads not guilty to both charges.
Høiby is also charged with three cases of violence in close relationships. He is also charged with damage, reckless behaviour, several breaches of a restraining order and driving without a licence.

No change in the charge
On Wednesday, the police stated that Høiby had a restraining order against two women, and that this was in addition to the victims from an incident at Frogner.

At the same time, Lill Vassbotn, who is an assistant lawyer for a woman Høiby is accused of having raped, confirms to Aftenposten that Høiby has also been banned from visiting her client.
It was on 4 August that the police went to Frogner in Oslo in connection with a violent incident in an apartment during the night. Two days later, Høiby’s defense attorney confirmed that his client had been charged with bodily harm.
The police wrote on Wednesday that there are no changes to the charges, and that they currently have no further information to release.
