He hasn’t played in the NBA for a few years but 2024-25 will feature a lot of Vince Carter.

Just days after it was announced that the Brooklyn Nets would retire Carter’s jersey, the Toronto Raptors said they would do the same.

According to Josh Lewenberg, per NBACentral, the Raptors plan to retire Carter’s number on November 2.

The retirement will come during a game against the Sacramento Kings.

This is history in the making for the Raptors.

It will be the first jersey retired by the team, although it is assumed that Kyle Lowry’s No. 7 will also be raised to the rafters once he leaves the league.

This comes during Toronto’s 30th anniversary of being in the league.

They will have multiple special events throughout the season to celebrate their 30 years in the association.

Carter was a major part of the Raptors for seven seasons, averaging 23.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists.

He became the face of Toronto and was known for his amazing offensive skills, including his terrific dunks, which are still talked about today.

Unfortunately, things didn’t end peacefully between Carter and the Raptors when he demanded a trade in 2004.

He left Toronto and headed down to New Jersey and played for the Nets, where he also had a huge impact.

However, that is all water under the bridge and Carter is seen as a hero and legend for the Raptors.

It only makes sense that his jersey would be retired as a way to celebrate all he did for the team.
