Interview: Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee on Gyeongseong Creature 2: “I almost froze to death”

Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee are set to face fresh horrors in Gyeongseong Creature Season 2, releasing on September 27. After Season 1’s explosive ending, the second instalment of the K-drama has a massive time jump as we go from 1945 Gyeongseong to 2024 Seoul. As past and present collide, So-hee’s Yoon Chae-ok encounters Seo-joon’s Ho-jae, a man who bears an uncanny resemblance with Jang Tae-sang.

“I would love to tell you about the behind-the-scenes moments but it was a year ago and I have very bad memory,” joked Seo-joon, best known for his roles in What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?, Itaewon Class and more. “There was lots of action, there wasn’t one easy scene. So it was very challenging. But after I was done with every scene I was proud of myself,” he added, reflecting on his experience while filming.

Admitting that he was nervous upon returning to the Netflix show’s set with his co-star, he shared, “We collaborated on Season 1 and then there was quite some time before we went into production for Season 2. So I used that time to boost my energy and then Season 2 is set against modern-day Seoul so I thought about how else we can make it entertaining. It was a very nervous and heart-fluttering moment for me to set foot on the sets once again when production began.”

Nevertheless and My Name fame Han So-hee jumped right into the deep end on her first day of shooting. The actress whose character virtually died before coming back to life, shared, “I actually remember one thing. It was the first shoot for Season 2. It was in March so it was very cold. And director Dong-yoon put me in the water so I almost froze to death. It was so cold.”

“You probably didn’t freeze because you have Najin inside of you,” Seo-joon added playfully, cracking up his co-star.
