WASHINGTON/OSLO (Dagsavisen): Everything indicates that it is Donald Trump who will be the next American president. According to the New York Times, there is a 93 percent chance of a Trump victory just before 07:00 Norwegian time, the newspaper estimates election barometer that the Republican ex-president ends up with 302 of the 538 electoral delegates.

Probably goes to Trump
Democrat Kamala Harris is left with 236 delegates if the newspapers’ estimates are correct.
A candidate needs at least 270 electoral delegates to become the next President of the United States.
– This probably goes the way of Trump. It’s not over yet, but it doesn’t look bright for Harris, says Professor Hilmar Mjelde at the University of Western Norway to NTB at 5 o’clock on the night of the election.
– By all accounts, this is a new 2016. This election is definitely not like the 2020 election for the Democrats, he adds.
– A solid sign of where the election wind is blowing is the silence from the Harris camp now, while the Trump camp is bubbling with optimism and energy.

Leader in swing states
Donald Trump leads the counts in several of the swing states and at 06.15 Norwegian time Trump has 230 electors, while Harris has 210.
For now, it is still unclear in the three swing states in the north, but Harris has done far worse than hoped. Trump has a narrow lead in all three, but there are still many votes left to count.
Trump also leads in Arizona and Nevada.
Do well in the south
– Trump seems to be doing better in the southern states than expected. Especially his large margin of victory in Florida and the lead in Virginia are bad signs for Harris, Professor Mjelde told NTB at 4 o’clock on election night.
In the streets of DC, there is still a little optimism. There are some who hope that the three swing states in the North will go to Harris, says the man who only wants to be called CJ:
– We have been saying the same thing for five months, three states will decide this, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. And she’s going to win all three. The election is not decided until Pennsylvania is ready, says CJ.
Must not give a speech
Kamala Harris will not be speaking to her supporters on election night, her campaign staff informs, writes NTB.
Harris is instead expected to give a speech later on Wednesday.
The preliminary results from the presidential election do not seem to be going Harris’ way. His rival Donald Trump has already won the two important swing states of Georgia and North Carolina, and he also leads in all the other swing states.
