The Arizona Cardinals have had a couple of rough seasons in which they missed the playoffs at least partly due to injury, but there is some hope they can be competitive this season after their massive win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Quarterback Kyler Murray, who missed big chunks of the 2022 and 2023 seasons because of an ACL injury, was outstanding against Los Angeles, completing 17 of 21 pass attempts for 266 yards and three touchdowns while adding 59 rushing yards.

On NFL Network, Arizona running back James Conner praised Murray, calling him “a super talented player.”

Although Murray made the Pro Bowl in both of his last two full seasons, he has faced doubts from the national media, partly due to his modest stature (he’s listed at 5-foot-10).

But he has gotten off to a strong start this season, and he now has a man who could become a legitimate weapon in rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., the No. 4 pick in this year’s draft.

Murray is also a dual-threat QB, and trying to stop him while he’s on the run is like trying to capture a squirrel running around a backyard or park.

The most impressive thing about Arizona through two games is their offense, which ranks second in points and fourth in rushing yards.

Connor has done his part with 172 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and Harrison busted out for 130 yards and two touchdowns on just four receptions against the Rams.

Perhaps the Cardinals will make the race for the NFC’s three wild-card playoff spots and possibly even the NFC West more interesting by the end of the year.
