The New York Jets have stormed into the 2024 NFL season with an impressive 2-1 record.

After a 13-point defeat against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1, they bounced back strongly, dominating the Tennessee Titans 24-17 and cruising past the New England Patriots 24-3.

However, the team’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges.

Injuries have hit the Jets’ defensive line hard, particularly affecting their run defense.

The loss of Jermaine Johnson to an Achilles injury is a significant setback, though emerging talents like Will McDonald IV have stepped up to fill the void.

Recognizing the need to maintain their momentum, the Jets are actively seeking to reinforce their defensive line depth.

In a recent development, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that former Patriots and Eagles defensive back Jalen Mills is set to join the Jets’ practice squad.

The 30-year-old veteran, who spent training camp with the Giants, brings a wealth of experience to the Jets’ secondary.

Mills’ versatility is a key asset, with the ability to play both cornerback and safety positions effectively.

His NFL journey, including stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots, has equipped him with experience and leadership qualities that could benefit the Jets’ secondary.

Throughout his career, Mills has amassed impressive statistics: 406 total tackles, 7 interceptions, 53 pass deflections, and 1.5 sacks.

Mills could also enhance the Jets’ run support and improve open-field tackling as he is known for his physical style of play.

The addition of Jalen Mills to the practice squad provides the Jets with much-needed depth and experience in their secondary.
