Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is not off to a great start in his NFL career.

He has yet to record a touchdown and has a passer rating of just 53.0 through his first two games.

Seeing that, Buffalo Bills veteran quarterback Josh Allen had some words of encouragement for the young starter in Chicago heading into Week 3.

“If the first couple of games in your career don’t go your way, it doesn’t mean it will define your career,” Allen said on “The Facility.”

Speaking as somebody who had a few rough years before reaching superstardom, Allen would know.

The Bears have some talented pieces around Williams, particularly wide receivers Rome Odunze, Keenan Allen and D.J. Moore.

However, the Bears haven’t had a winning culture for quite some time.

They have not been consistent contenders since Lovie Smith was the head coach more than a decade ago.

So, Williams is fighting an uphill battle in terms of trying to succeed in an organization that doesn’t exactly have the best track record.

However, he is only two games into his career and is still 1-1, with a win against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 and a narrow loss to the powerful Houston Texans in Week 2.

The former Heisman Trophy winner has been average at best and has been bailed out by a very good defense under head coach Matt Eberflus.

Bears fans and the media should allow Williams some runway to get comfortable before they start judging him as a possible bust.

Like Allen said, give him time.
