Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons made a statement with their 22-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
After a shaky Week 1 performance, the Falcons demonstrated their mettle, suggesting they might be genuine contenders in the NFC.
Cousins appeared more at ease in his second outing with the Falcons, delivering a crucial win.
However, some critics remain unconvinced. Joy Taylor, speaking on FS1’s Speak, expressed reservations about Cousins in the long-term.
“I definitely need more evidence that this will be consistent,” Taylor remarked. “I don’t think the Falcons went out there and took the game; I think the Eagles put it on a platter for them.”

Taylor did acknowledge Cousins’ prowess during the game-winning drive despite her skepticism.
The quarterback completed 20 of 29 passes for 241 yards, throwing two touchdowns without any interceptions, and his final touchdown pass to Drake London with just 1:05 remaining sealed the victory.
Taylor’s assessment has some merit. The Eagles missed opportunities to secure the win, but the Falcons’ performance shouldn’t be discounted.
They executed when it mattered most, a feat Philadelphia couldn’t match.
Does this victory instantly elevate Cousins and the Falcons to NFC contender status? Not quite yet.
However, they’ve certainly garnered attention and earned respect but their true test awaits in Week 3 as they face the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
