King of Prussia District brings back Wellness Week

KING OF PRUSSIA — The King of Prussia District will host its annual KOP Wellness Week from Sept. 23 through 29. The week-long event features seven days of deals, workouts and events focused on health and wellness.

It will be followed by four Wellness Wednesday workouts for the community.

The KOP Wellness Week, which is presented by Highmark Blue Shield, highlights the region’s health and wellness providers and how they can help those who live and work in King of Prussia keep their 2024 health goals going in the remaining months of the year.

The impetus for the event, according to Rachel Ammon, marketing and communications director for the King of Prussia District, “came from looking at what an incredible hub for health and wellness King of Prussia has become.” She said the area boasts recognizable health institutions, restaurants and retailers that are leaning into health and wellness, as well as fitness and yoga studios.

“It became a question of ‘why not do something that unites this group together’,” she said, adding that the district hosts other events focusing on businesses, and Wellness Week is an opportunity to highlight the thriving community in King of Prussia.

The dates for the third annual Wellness Week represent a change of seasons. Previous events have been held in February.

Ammon said the decision was made to shift the dates because of weather. With the Wellness Wednesdays being held outside, September offers better weather than February.

“With back to school, it feels like the perfect time to take a look at what our 2024 health goals were and reconnect. It’s the perfect time to do that,” she said.

KOP Wellness Week will kick off on Monday, Sept. 23 with a new event — a Red Cross Blood Drive from 2 to 7 p.m. at 460 N. Gulph Road, across from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Not only is there a critical need for blood donations across the region, according to Ammon, but a blood donation aligns well with Wellness Week.

More than 37 King of Prussia businesses have signed on to participate in this year’s Wellness Week event.

Throughout the week, participants can take advantage of free workouts and open access gyms, special events and shopping and dining deals from health and wellness-centric businesses. Wellness Wednesdays

To keep the fun and wellness going, four Wellness Wednesdays have been added – Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, 9 and 16 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Wellness Wednesdays is a workout series of classes offered by gyms and fitness studios. The classes will be held outside, in several locations in King of Prussia.

Ammon said this year’s workouts are being handled a bit differently.

“This year we’re leaning into the Zen modalities,” she said, adding that the classes will feature yoga, yoga and meditation and a sound bath session and guided meditation with Crystal Singing bowls.

“People can come out and wind down from their day,” Ammon added. “We are excited about the shift — the timing is right for this.”
