Daniel Lysgård made it 1-1 with five minutes left of normal time, while Oscar Kapskarmo scored the winning goal in the first extra period.
KIL had to finish the match with ten men. In the 112th minute, Harald Holter received his second yellow card for tearing down an opponent, but Lyn failed to take advantage of the superiority at the YMCA’s stadium in Ekeberg.
The next match in the qualifiers will be Egersund – Kongsvinger next Saturday, and the winner will face Moss away on 1 December. The team that decides the Melløs contest will go out in a double match against the club that finishes in 14th place in the Eliteserien (at the moment it is Haugesund).
A remarkable own goal gave Lyn 1-0 towards the end of the first half. KIL failed in the free play and was pressured to hit the ball backwards, but the pass was imprecise.
In a panic, Robert Orri Thorkelsson stuck out a foot and involuntarily scored. Without the involvement, the ball would have gone for a corner kick.
Lyn seemed to keep out the move from Kongsvinger after the break, but in the 85th minute Lysgård equalized.
Kongsvinger has not been in the Eliteserien since 2010. This year’s promotion qualification is the team’s third in a row.
Last weekend, KIL took 6th place after a difficult autumn in the 1st division. Lyn finished fifth in a strong comeback season at the second highest level. The Oslo club disappeared out of the top division in 2009 and has not been there since.
