SHANGHAI – Serbian tennis player Laszlo Djere will play against the qualifiers in the first round of the Masters in Shanghai, it was decided by lot, the tournament organizers announced today.
The winner of this duel will meet Stefan Tsitsipas from Greece. Two more Serbian tennis players, Dušan Lajović and Miomir Kecmanović, will perform at the tournament in Shanghai, reports Tanjug.
Lajović will play in the first round with the Swiss tennis player Stan Wawrinka, and the better of this duel for the rival in the second round will have the Dutchman Talon Griekspor.
At the start of the competition, Kecmanović will play against the local tennis player Juncaokete Bu. The winner of this duel will meet in the second round with the American Sebastian Cord.
The best tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic, will not play at the Masters in Shanghai. Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is seeded first, and is free in the first round.
In the second round, the Spaniard will play the winner of the match between the Portuguese Nun Borges and the French Gregor Barre. The Shanghai Masters starts on October 4, and is played for a prize fund of 8.8 million dollars.
