Within two minutes, the hosts turned a difficult starting point into victory.
First up was Cody Gakpo. The winger tried to find Darwin Núñez, but the striker ducked under the cross, and the ball bounced untouched into the far corner.
Soon after, Salah secured the win. The Egyptian turned inside from the corner of the 16-yard box and knocked the ball into the far corner.
Before that, Brighton had long been the best team. 13 minutes had been played when Ferdi Kadioglu was able to tap inside Liverpool’s 16-metre area without pressure. The ball flew via the post and into the net to make it 1-0.
Good start to the season
Arne Slot’s men have had a good start to the season, and Liverpool were one point behind table-toppers Manchester City before the round. City stumbled against Bournemouth on Saturday, and Liverpool thus top the table with a gap of two points after ten games played.
On Tuesday, they meet Leverkusen at home in the Champions League. On Saturday, Aston Villa will visit Anfield.
Nottingham Forest also continued their brilliant start to the season when they beat West Ham 3-0 at home on Saturday. Chris Wood put the hosts ahead in the first half with his eighth goal of the season.
When Edson Álvarez was sent off for the London club before the break, the road back into the match was long. Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina secured the win and sent Forest up to a very impressive third place in the table.
Bottom settlement
In the bottom match between Southampton and Everton, the former emerged victorious with 1-0. Southampton stood with one poor point before Saturday’s game, but on Saturday Adam Armstrong ensured the club’s first league win of the season.
Both Ipswich and Leicester moved up from level two before the season, and on Saturday they played 1-1 in the match between themselves. Leif Davis scored for Ipswich, before Jordan Ayew equalized in extra time.
Ipswich still have the advantage of winning a league game this season.
