Majestic Shiffrin won in Levi again – approaching historic milestone – Dagsavisen

Shiffrin, who is in love with the injured Norwegian alpinist Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, won in Levi for the eighth time and is approaching the magical limit of 100 World Cup victories. After the Levi triumph, she is only two wins away from that milestone.

The 29-year-old led by 0.6 seconds down to German Lena Dürr in 2nd place after the 1st lap. Zrinka Ljutic from Croatia was 0.73 seconds behind in 3rd place.

– This was good. It worked well technically, although I was a little nervous, Shiffrin told Viaplay after that round.

Secured the win

In the 2nd half, there was no one who could prevent Shiffrin from taking his eighth victory in Levi. Shiffrin won by a whopping 0.79 seconds to Katharina Liensberger from Austria in 2nd place. Germany’s Lena Dürr was third and took the fifth podium of the season by 0.04 seconds behind Liensberger.

Shiffrin opened the World Cup season by finishing fifth in giant slalom in Sölden at the end of October. Then she led after the 1st half.

Weak Norwegian efforts

None of the Norwegians were allowed to drive the 2nd half. They placed number 34) Kristin Lysdal, 36) Thea Louise Stjernesund, 43) Bianca Bakke Westhoff and 51) Andrine Mårstøl.

Norway had the highest hopes for Mina Fürst Holtmann, but she got caught in a gate on her way over the infamous hanging edge in the Levi hill and therefore never made it to the finish line. Fürst Holtmann was fifth in Levi last season and finished with 2nd place in Saalbach in the last race of last year’s World Cup.

– I was simply hooked. The drive is there, but I could probably have been a bit more focused, said Fürst Holtmann to Viaplay.
