Man charged with drugging, sexually assaulting 9 women, murdering 1 in Southern California 

A Redondo Beach man has been charged with drugging and sexually assaulting nine women at his Los Angeles County homes, and authorities say one of the women died due to the alleged drugging. 

Michael DiGiorgio is accused of a slew of violent sexual crimes stemming from incidents that occurred at his homes in Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach between 2019 and 2021, the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday

He has been charged with the following felony crimes: 

  • Murder  
  • Rape by use of a drug (three counts) 
  • Sodomy by use of a drug (two counts) 
  • Sexual penetration by use of a drug (five counts) 
  • Oral copulation by use of a drug  
  • Forcible rape 
  • Forcible sexual penetration (two counts) 
  • Rape of an unconscious person 
  • Furnishing a controlled substance 

It is further alleged that during the furnishing of a controlled substance, DiGiorgio caused great bodily injury, the DA’s office said. 

The woman who died by the alleged drugging was not identified. It is also not known when exactly her death occurred. 

DiGiorgio, 50, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday. If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
