Matt Gaetz withdraws his candidacy for US Attorney General – Dagsavisen

– I had an excellent meeting with senators yesterday. I appreciate your feedback and the incredible support from several people, writes Gaetz X.

He says he had the wind at his back, but that it was “clear that my approval (as a member of the government) had become an unfair distraction from the important work the Trump/Vance transition is doing.”

Since 2021, Gaetz has been under investigation by the Congressional Ethics Committee following allegations of sex with minors and human trafficking. He has always denied the accusations.

Both Democrats and Republicans in Congress have demanded that the Ethics Committee submit its report on Gaetz, something that has not yet been agreed upon.

He adds that he will continue to work to make Donald Trump “the most successful president in the history of the United States.”

Gaetz was a member of the House of Representatives, but has resigned from this post in connection with his nomination as Minister of Justice. Thus, he is currently without an office.
