McDonald’s will be launching a new “McValue Platform” on Jan. 7 that will include its popular $5 Meal Deal and offer other savings to customers, the fast food giant announced Friday, Nov. 22.
McValue introduces a “buy one, add one for $1” option on popular items, according to a news release.
They include the Sausage McMuffin, Sausage Biscuit, Sausage Burrito and Hash Browns on the breakfast menu.
On the lunch and dinner menu, items will be six-piece Chicken McNuggets, a Double Cheeseburger, the McChicken sandwich and small fries.
The McValue Platform will also include local deals and in-app exclusive deals, the news release said.
It did not say what would happen to the chain’s current $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu, which includes the same items as the upcoming add-one option, plus soft drinks.
McDonald’s launched the $5 Meal Deal in June during a time when the chain was taking heat over its prices. Rumors of $18 Big Macs were circulating on the Internet that caused Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, to issue a denial in an open letter to fans in late May.
The $5 Meal Deal was pulled together from items on the $1 $2 $3 menu: either a McDouble or a McChicken, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries and a small soft drink. The price actually varied by location, and the McDouble meal sold for $6 at many restaurants.
The deal was expected to last four weeks but was extended twice, most recently through the end of 2024.
