McPherson house total loss after fire that started in garage

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — No one was injured after a house fire in McPherson on Tuesday, but the home is considered a total loss.

A news release from the McPherson Fire Department said firefighters were dispatched to the 1400 block of Briarwood Lane at 11:32 a.m. for the structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found heavy flames from a two-car garage of a home.

Flames had also spread to the exterior wall of a neighboring house as well. Crews worked to extinguish flames at both structures while other firefighters searched the homes for anyone inside.

The McPherson Fire Department said neither home had occupants at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The home with the garage that was on fire is being considered a total loss.

The Galva and Inman Fire Departments responded to the scene to assist with extinguishment of the fire. McPherson EMS, McPherson Police Department, and McPherson County Emergency Management provided resources and support at the scene as well.

The McPherson Fire Department said crews cleared the scene shortly after 3 p.m. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by McPherson Fire Department Fire Investigators. No foul play is suspected.
