Meghan Markle Had an Abrupt 3-Word Response to Queen Elizabeth II’s Advice on Royal Life

Royal family

Meghan Markle wasn’t sure what to expect when she officially joined the royal family in 2018, and Queen Elizabeth II understood that. But Meghan had a three-word reply to the queen’s comment.

Meghan Markle certainly wasn’t familiar with the inner workings of royal life when she met her now-husband, Prince Harry, back in 2016. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had somewhat of a whirlwind relationship, getting engaged a little more than a year after meeting and marrying six months later.

Meghan had much to adjust to in the royal family, and Queen Elizabeth II reportedly gave her a sound piece of advice — but it resulted in a curt, three-word response from the duchess.

Meghan Markle’s response to Queen Elizabeth II’s advice

Meghan and the queen seemingly had a good relationship. The queen loved Harry, so when he brought Meghan home, the queen wanted to love her, too. When Meghan and Harry left the royal family and dished their side of the story in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, the two had nothing but good things to say about Harry’s grandmother.

But when Meghan first joined the family, she might not have taken one piece of the queen’s advice too seriously. Express reports that, according to royal author Robert Jobson, Meghan didn’t want to go to other royal family members and learn the ropes. In Jobson’s book, “Our King: Charles III The Man and the Monarch Revealed,” the queen reportedly was “so pleased Harry had at last found love.” But the queen then advised Meghan to speak with Sophie, who is Prince Edward’s wife and who also married into the royal family. However, Meghan didn’t take the advice too seriously. “I’ve got Harry,” she reportedly replied in three brisk words.

That’s not to say Meghan didn’t care about the queen’s advice, but she might have just felt more comfortable speaking with Harry about navigating royal life rather than speaking with Sophie, with whom she wasn’t as close.

Meghan Markle is still trying to build up her reputation

Things within the royal family didn’t work out for the duchess, and she and Harry eventually exited and opted for a life on their own terms in California. But Meghan has still worked hard to try and rebuild her reputation. She was accused of bullying within the royal family, and it has taken a while to shed that image. Now, she’s been hit with another bombshell; The Hollywood Reporter published an article from alleged inside sources, all claiming that Meghan is incredibly difficult to work with.

Archewell’s former COO, Mandana Dayani, recently praised the duchess for her kindness after the other claims, but it’s unclear if it’s enough to help the public view Meghan differently.
