Kim Kardashian is not on the case.
Recently, reports surfaced online that The Kardashians star was helping 90 Day Fiancé cast member Michael Ilesanmi in his divorce battle with his estranged wife Angela Deem. But Michael says that’s false and he has no association with the Skims co-founder.
Michael Ilsenmi denies connection with Kim Kardashian
The rumors that Kim K. had stepped in to help Michael apparently originated on YouTube. The reality TV icon has been studying law for several years in the hopes of following in her dad Robert Kardashian’s footsteps and becoming an attorney. She is an advocate for criminal justice reform and has spoken out in support of people she believes should be released from prison. In September, she spoke to a group of inmates at a San Diego prison – including Lyle and Erik Menendez – about prison reform.
While Kim has championed criminal justice reform, there’s no indication that she’d get involved in a situation like Michael’s, which is not a criminal case. Michael is locked in a legal battle with Angela, who in June 2024 asked a Georgia court to annul her marriage on the grounds of fraud. Michael responded by requesting a divorce. In his filing, he also alleged that Angela had abused him.
On October 1, Michael confirmed he had no association with the former Keeping Up With the Kardashians star.
“I have no involvement or interest in news related to Kim Kardashian, so I kindly request that such information be omitted,” he wrote in a statement shared on his Instagram Story.
The ‘90 Day Fiancé’ says there are no updates about his split from Angela
As of now, there are no updates on Michael and Angela’s efforts to end their marriage.
“As is widely known, I am currently involved in litigation with my estranged wife, Angela Deem, in the family court of Jeff Davis County, Georgia,” Michael said in a statement shared to Instagram on Sept. 23. “These proceedings involve both annulment proceedings and my own filings for dismissal and a counter-claim for divorce. At present, there are no active court dates as both parties are in the early stages of pre-trial discovery.”
While Michael said he appreciated the fans’ support, he was not able to “discuss the details of the case beyond what is already public.”
Angela and Michael’s tumultuous relationship has been featured on multiple seasons of 90 Day Fiancé and its various spinoffs. The couple, who met online, married in Nigeria in 2020. But it took Michael years to get a visa that would allow him to move to the U.S. He finally arrived in America in late 2023. Just a few months later, he fled Angela’s Georgia home.
In her request for an annulment, Angela said that Michael tricked her into marriage to get a green card. In his response, Michael denied that the marriage was fraudulent and requested a divorce and spousal support from Angela.
Since requesting an annulment, Angela has continued to lash out at Michael on social media.
“Have you ever heard the saying, ‘You’ve met your match’? Well, I’m not saying that,” she said in a video shared on Instagram in early September. “What I’m saying to you is, you haven’t met your match. You’ve met someone that is overqualified for your bullsh*t.”
