The NFL’s treatment of rookie quarterbacks, particularly Bryce Young’s situation with the Carolina Panthers, has sparked intense debate among fans and analysts.
Historically, rookie QBs have struggled to replicate their college success at the professional level, with only 9% breaking into the top 12 fantasy rankings since 2014.
This stark reality contrasts sharply with the often unrealistic expectations placed on these young athletes.
ESPN’s Mike Greenberg recently addressed this issue on ESPN Radio, emphasizing the delicate balance teams must strike.
He argued that while prematurely giving up on young quarterbacks is a significant mistake, thrusting them into starting roles before they’re prepared can be even more detrimental.
“Bryce Young is playing on the worst team ever, who couldn’t get a coach. Dave Canales took that job because no one else would,” Greenberg said when discussing Bryce Young’s predicament.
