More people visit the doctor with respiratory infections – Dagsavisen

It is Mycoplasma pneumoniae and rhinovirus that dominate among respiratory infections, according to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health’s (FHI) weekly report for week 45.

The incidence of influenza and RS virus infections remains very low, but there has been a slight increase in the incidence of parainfluenza virus in recent weeks.

– Hospitals and municipalities must be prepared that admissions with influenza, covid-19 and other respiratory infections may increase in the run-up to Christmas, writes FHI.

There were 13 corona-related deaths in week 45, after 11 in week 44 and 22 in week 43.

– An increase in covid-19 in the run-up to Christmas cannot be ruled out, writes FHI.

The incidence of mycoplasma infection is high. There has been a decline in confirmed cases of Mycoplasma pneumoniae over the past three weeks, but it is still too early to say whether the peak of the outbreak has been reached. The incidence is highest in the age group 5–14 years.

There has been a somewhat increasing trend in the proportion of samples with detected rhinovirus over the past three weeks, after a decline since the peak in week 38. The incidence is highest in the age group 0–4 years.
