The Brooklyn Nets are ready to honor the hard work and amazing career of Vince Carter.
On Thursday morning, Michael Scotto, per NBACentral, announced the Nets plan to retire Carter’s jersey in the upcoming season.
The team is preparing to retire Carter’s No. 15 jersey in a ceremony at Barclays Center on January 25 following their game against the Miami Heat.

Carter was with the Nets from 2004 to 2009, when the team was still the New Jersey Nets.
During his 374 regular season games, Carter produced an average of 23.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.
Before his years with the Nets, Carter made a name for himself as a vital member of the Toronto Raptors.
But Carter eventually grew tired of his time with the Raptors and demanded a trade.
The Nets were happy to make it happen, sending Alonzo Mourning, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams, and two future first-round picks to the Raptors for Carter.
After months of struggling with Toronto, Carter once again looked like his regular self and became a vital part of the team.
Carter will have a busy year because he will also be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Many fans are elated to hear this news about Carter’s jersey being retired, while others are confused as to why the Raptors haven’t already done such an honor.
There is no doubt the Raptors will eventually hang Carter’s jersey from the rafters but it’s surprising to see the Nets beating them to it.
