The attacks on Beirut are aimed at Haret Hreik, part of the suburb of Dahieh, a stronghold of the Hezbollah militia.
According to the Lebanese state news agency NNA, several buildings were destroyed in Saturday’s attack. An evacuation order was issued ahead of the bombing.
The Israeli military (IDF) has also confirmed that they have carried out attacks against the Dahieh area which they say were aimed at Hezbollah’s infrastructure.
Clashes are also taking place between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces near the town of Dhayra on the border area between Israel and Lebanon, according to NNA.
In addition, an attack is reported against Tyre, a historic ancient city that was founded several thousand years ago. The city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
– The attack against Tyr was aimed at the “ruin district”, which resulted in the destruction of two buildings and damage to other nearby buildings, writes NNA, referring to a neighborhood near Tyr’s ancient hippodrome, a historic horse racing track.
Israel also claims to have shot down drones targeting Israel from Lebanese territory.
