It’s the question all of Us are asking: Who is the football player involved in the viral story about Emily Kuch‘s canceled wedding?

Emily appeared on the Sunday, October 13, episode of her sister Allison Kuch‘s “Sunday Sports Club” podcast to open up about what pushed her to pull the plug on her wedding to an unnamed football player. Though the siblings weren’t shy about referencing Emily’s ex’s ties to the NFL, they didn’t use his name throughout the 90-minute conversation. (Allison, for her part, is a popular TikTok creator who is married to NFL free agent Isaac Rochell.)

“There’s a lot of things I had to learn after leaving that long of a relationship … I didn’t really know how to be my own person,” Emily explained, noting that she was with her ex for nearly 10 years. “We started dating really young, so I was like, ‘Who am I even by myself?’”

Emily and her ex began dating in college and went through “ups and downs” in their relationship — including alleged infidelity on his part — before ultimately getting engaged in 2021. They planned to tie the knot in Hawaii in 2022, but Emily called off the ceremony hours before it began. She insisted to her sister that disagreements she had with her ex about a prenup were not the only reason they broke up.

“I started to try to view this as, like, ‘How could I use this experience to be a better person, a better partner for my next partner?’” she said while discussing what lessons she learned from the ordeal.

The name of Emily’s ex was never mentioned on the podcast, but it was previously reported that she was engaged to Baltimore Ravens star Ronnie Stanley. Us Weekly previously reached out to the team for comment regarding Emily’s claims but did not immediately hear back. Stanley has not publicly addressed the podcast.

The athlete suffered his first season-ending ankle injury in November 2020. Emily’s now-viral podcast episode referenced an injury that “changed things” for her ex. (She also cited November 2020, seemingly lining up the timeline of events.)

“Watching that, for me, was pretty tough,” she recalled. “When he was injured and, like, I saw how that affected him, I was like, ‘I’ll literally drop anything for this person.’ … I wanted to fix anything I could for this person. It was never about the money for him. He truly, truly, truly loves football.”

In October 2021, Stanley announced that he was undergoing ankle surgery, cutting his season short for the second year in a row. “This is the best decision not only for my health, but also for the team long term,” he noted in a statement.

Both Stanley and Rochell were on the Notre Dame football team. Allison jokingly asked her sister on “Sunday Sports Club” whether she “took credit” for her meet-cute with Rochell, who has been married to Allison since 2020.

“Yes and no,” Emily teased, emphasizing that Allison met Rochell on her own. “It was, like, absolutely opposite of my intentions to ever set you up with a teammate because I feel like that’s just weird. … It happened very authentically, though.”

Allison also pointed out that Emily’s ex was “never close” with Rochell, who plays defensive end. “They got along, especially after we started dating,” Allison added.
