The NFL’s divisional landscape is a constant source of debate, with the “softest” division title often up for grabs.

While the AFC South frequently faces criticism for its lack of playoff-caliber teams, Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright has set his sights on an unexpected target: the NFC East.

In a recent episode of his podcast “What’s Wright?”, Nick boldly declared the Dallas Cowboys’ division as the league’s softest.

“The Cowboys are in the softest division in the league,” Wright asserted. “I think they might be able to win the d**n NFC East with just 9 wins.”

Wright’s reasoning is multi-faceted.

He dismisses the New York Giants as “barely a professional team” and points out the Washington Commanders’ defensive struggles, compounded by their decision to start rookie QB Jayden Daniels.

Even the Philadelphia Eagles, a recent Super Bowl contender, are described by Wright as merely a “mid” team.

Moreover, the NFC East’s current state indeed raises questions.

The Eagles, despite a strong start last season, faltered down the stretch, losing five of their last six games and underperforming in the playoffs.

The Cowboys, while finishing strong in the division, face uncertainties as they aim to build on their historic success.

The Giants and Commanders aren’t without their own challenges, particularly at the quarterback position.

These factors combined cast doubt on the division’s competitive edge, lending some credence to Wright’s controversial stance.

As Week 3 approaches, all eyes will be on the NFC East to see if it can dispel this “soft” label.
