Star track and field athlete Noah Lyles has generated headlines for making some outlandish statements.
Last year, he attacked the NBA and questioned why teams in the league that win it all are considered world champions, a statement that earned him ridicule from across the league.
More recently, Miami Dolphins speedster Tyreek Hill challenged the Olympic gold-medal winner to a race, and Lyles revealed to “SportsCenter” that he is actually talking to Hill about competing in a 60-meter dash.
“Everyone wants to race the fastest man. I didn’t grab this title because it’s easy … we’re in talks,” Lyles said, via FinsXtra.

Hill made headlines during Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season when he was arrested near Hard Rock Stadium just prior to Miami’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In his ESPN appearance, Lyles offered his support for the wideout in regards to that incident.
Hill is nicknamed “Cheetah” for his blazing speed downfield, and that speed has helped him make the Pro Bowl in each of his eight seasons in the league.
Last year, he led the league with 1,799 receiving yards and tied for the lead with 13 receiving touchdowns, and had it not been for an ankle injury late in the season he could’ve had a shot at breaking the single-season record and possibly becoming the first player in history to record 2,000 receiving yards.
Through two games this season, he has a modest (by his standards) 154 yards and one touchdown.
Of course, the most pressing issue Hill and the Dolphins are dealing with right now is the concussion suffered by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa that will force him to miss at least the next four games.
Many around the league have advised Tagovailoa to retire, and thus the rest of his football career, not to mention the Dolphins’ hopes of winning the Super Bowl championship any time soon, seem to be hanging in the balance.
