Norway signs agreement with BBC on climate and weather services – Dagsavisen

This applies, among other things, to Kenya, Nepal and Bangladesh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states in a press release.

– Extreme weather is becoming more common and stronger due to climate change, says Development Minister Anne Beathe Kristiansen Tvinnereim (Sp).

– It is important that people understand weather and climate information so that they can prepare for extreme weather events. This agreement with BBC Media Action is a central part of Norway’s work to help people adapt to a changing climate, she continues.

The NOK 80.5 million agreement is managed by Norad and will last for two years. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it will help to strengthen content about climate change and extreme weather in the media.

In addition, it will help climate scientists, journalists and local leaders to communicate climate and weather information in a simple and understandable way, so that people know how to prepare for extreme weather.

– Norway wants to give people access to information they can trust and use to adapt to an increasingly unpredictable world, says Tvinnereim.
