Norway stands behind the global declaration at the climate summit in Baku – Dagsavisen

The climate negotiations in Azerbaijan are coming to an end and are expected to be completed on Friday. The main topic at the summit is financing climate measures in developing countries.

Norway is among the countries that signed a declaration on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Climate and Environment in a press release.

– In order for us to reach the 1.5 degree target, all countries must cut more. Together with a united Europe, Norway sends a clear message that all countries must take responsibility, says Climate and Environment Minister Tore O. Sandvik, who is present in Baku.

During the climate summit last year, the world agreed on a road map to keep the world on track to 1.5 degrees. This declaration builds on this.

– The Paris Agreement is working, but we are still on the way to a warming that will hit us hard. All over the world we see consequences such as floods, forest fires and heat waves. It affects people, local communities and companies. It is therefore important that we keep the pressure up, cut emissions and slow down the heating. Every tenth counts, says Sandvik.
